Läti Disko
You know, sometimes you get your poison back - our northern neighbors have made a song about the crisis in Latvia, reading the translation in Latvian it's surprising to see how much they get to hear about the consequences of the crisis and the actions the gov is taking, for example, VAT increase and the cut on bureaucrat salaries :). Though some parts like going short even of tins and repeated usage of handkerchiefs are a bit of a stretch :).
The softest rhymes in the song go like:
If you're doing bad
And you're about to complain,
Then take a look at latvians,
they are doing way much worse

Hei my good countryneighbour from Latvia! I'm from Estonia. I've been in Riga, Jurmala, Sigulda and Rujiena. I love your country. I don't know many latvian bands but i love bands Brainstorm and Reigani and some metal and EBM bands.
I know we both are in hard "financial times" right now :)
So we have to stick together like we were in 1988 ... 1991 ...
But our best friends are positive thinking, good sense of humour and self-irony. :)

Ha, nice to hear at last from some real estonian - i've made 1000 times more jokes than seen one :).
I know those songs by hard cos they're really funny there's one about lithunians from the Reigani as well.
I deleted your first comment on that estonian flag emulation - i thought that it's a spam until i read this one :).
Though there is one thing in latvia did terribly wrong in favor of Estonia - gave them the our island of Ruhnu :D.

No, I don't mean that horrifying latvian bear - I mean in early twenties Ruhnu island initially belonged to Latvia, but then it was forwarded to Estonia by intergovernment agreement.

Seriously, I'm from estonia, and no one here dislikes latvians, maybe russians, but i never met anyone.
I came here through web-page of CONTRA, who is the author of these words. He is a massive poet. He's poetry is everywhere, and I honestly would never believe there is anyone, who has read all his poems, which are written in careful old-fashioned style of rhyme and rhytm. Best wishes. Radio today played a song by Kaupers Eesti Poiss. Kaupers the man.
I'm surprised that you like that eestipois song, cos as much as I know - it has quite offensive lyrics, though funny as well, I guess :).

Can you please translate "Eesti pois" lyrics to english?
I only understand Eesti pois, Tallinn, Saaremaa, Pärnu :) and google don't know the translation of these lyrics also.
Yeah actually I was surprised about the translation of the Lati disko lyrics - it seemed very poetic - being composed by a somewhat poet explains it all :).
Considering eesti pois - as much as I know kurva is used cos of it's slang meaning not meaning what it originally means in estonian - sad :). And that sake is meant something like sucks. As I remember then draže meant something offensive in estonian slang as well, but not sure discussed the lyrics a while ago :).

maybe soke = sõge = mad/insane
No idea, there are no latvian lyrics in the song - it's some middle language. And I didn't want to translate kurva - i know what it means :D.
